We completed an installation of a potassium carbonate (pot ash) feed system to treat for low pH. pH measures the acidity of water with 7.0 being neutral, above 7.0 is alkaline and below 7.0 is acidic. This particular water has a pH of 6.0 when not treated. This pH is aggressive towards the copper plumbing, boiler heating system, hot water tank and fixtures in the home. Low pH can thin the walls of copper pipes and fittings, solder joints and corrode away metal components in the system creating leaks and making repairs difficult and expensive. A common sign of low pH is blue/green stains in sink and tub drain areas. There are several ways to approach treatment for low pH. We can evaluate your water quality and design and install a system that works for your water quality and meets your needs.
